Daniel is the story of a young man who served faithfully in the courts of Babylon and Persia without compromising his faith, and the book records both his dramatic rescues and his apocalyptic visions of world empires.
Its 12 chapters and 357 verses hold some of the Bible's best-loved scenes: Daniel in the lions' den, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace, the handwriting on the wall, and the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream of a great image. The first half is a gallery of court stories; the second, a series of visions of beasts and of the Ancient of Days. Daniel's later chapters give some of Scripture's most important visions of the judgment of God and the resurrection of the dead.
