Revelation is the final book of the Bible — a visionary letter of the apostle John to seven churches in Asia, full of thrones, seals, trumpets and the final triumph of God over evil.
Its 22 chapters close the biblical story where Genesis opened it: a new heaven and a new earth, with God himself wiping away every tear (Revelation 21:4). The book ends with the church's last prayer: "Even so, come, Lord Jesus." Its imagery — the seven seals, the four horsemen, the battle of Armageddon — has entered world culture, but the book's own purpose is pastoral: letters to seven churches, warnings to persevere, and the vision of a city with no more death, sorrow or crying. Revelation closes the Bible with a wedding, a tree of life and hope for every generation.
