About the Book of Joshua
Joshua is the sixth book of the Bible and the story of Israel's conquest of Canaan. After forty years in the wilderness, Joshua leads the people across the Jordan to take the land God had promised to Abraham.
Its 24 chapters and 658 verses hold the dramatic fall of Jericho, the long day when the sun stood still, and the famous resolve: "as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD" (Joshua 24:15). Between them come the battle of Ai, the covenant renewed at Mount Ebal, the Gibeonite treaty and the division of the land among the twelve tribes by lot. The book closes with Joshua's charge to a people who must choose whom they will serve.

Joshua 24:15And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
