About the Book of Haggai

Haggai is a book with one message and a deadline. After the exiles returned to Jerusalem, they built their own paneled houses while the temple lay in ruins — and Haggai calls them, twice in two months, to rebuild the house of the LORD first.

Its 2 chapters and 38 verses turn on the repeated summons, "consider your ways" (Haggai 1:7), and the LORD's promise, "I am with you, saith the LORD" (Haggai 1:13). Haggai also announces a future shaking of nations and the coming of "the desire of all nations" (Haggai 2:7), along with the surprising assurance that "the glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former" (Haggai 2:9).
