About the Book of 2 Corinthians

2 Corinthians is Paul's most personal letter. Writing to a church he had corrected and who now questioned him, he defends his ministry, opens his heart about suffering, and unfolds what it means to be a new creation in Christ.

Its 13 chapters and 257 verses contain the great description of comfort — "the God of all comfort, who comforteth us in all our tribulation" (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) — the promise that "if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature" (2 Corinthians 5:17), and the surprise of grace: "my grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). Paul also gives the most joyful definition of giving: "God loveth a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7).
